Who Do You Think You Are?

This week’s episode of Who Do You Think You Are? featuring Ruth Madeley was one of the most interesting I’ve watched in a long time.

I always enjoy seeing the family histories unfold, but Ruth’s story was especially fascinating. As each new discovery came to light, it revealed not only more about her own family but also offered a glimpse into the lives, challenges and experiences of previous generations.

What made the programme so engaging was Ruth herself. She approached every revelation with warmth, curiosity and genuine emotion, making it easy to become invested in her family’s journey. Some of the discoveries were unexpected and quite moving, reminding us how many family stories remain hidden until someone starts looking.

One of the things I love most about Who Do You Think You Are? is that it combines genealogy with social history. It’s never just about names on a family tree—it brings history to life through the experiences of ordinary people whose lives were shaped by the times they lived in.

This week’s episode was a perfect example of why the series continues to be so popular. It was thoughtful, moving and incredibly interesting from start to finish. If you haven’t seen Ruth Madeley’s episode yet, I’d definitely recommend giving it a watch.
